There are plenty of good restaurants to take a break from shopping in and there are fine country inns in which to spend the night -- you'll want to stay a couple of days in this delightful little village. Once you've gotten acquainted with Saugerties, head south on Route 9W to visit the antiques stores on top of the hill and west to see the shops on Route 32. The oldest lighthouse on the Hudson River is a half mile walk from the center of the Historic District. In the fall there are the Garlic and Mum Festivals. In the winter it's a half hour drive up the mountain to several major ski resorts.
