Trail and The Phoenicia Trail

of these trails leads to the 2740' summit of Mt. Tremper,
Willow from the Southeast, Phoenicia from the West.
The Adirondack Club suggests
parking a vehicle at each trailhead and hiking a thorough
trip, ascending The Phoenicia Trail, descending Willow
for a nice day's outing. As a through hike, these
two trails total 7 miles.
Trailheads: Phoenicia:
1.3 m east of Phoenicia, you will find old Rte. 28
(also known as County Road 40). The trailhead is on
the N side of County Road 40. There's room for parking
on the opposite side of the road, east of the trailhead.
Willow Trail: from Route 212 turn west onto Van Wagner
Road. Drive .4 m to Jessup Road, turn left and drive
1 m. The trailhead is at the point at which the road
begins to climb. There is no parking area here, please
ask landowners for permission to park on their property.
Phoenicia Trail is blazed
in red. It is 2.8 miles long with an ascent of 2,030.
This is a short tough climb. You may come across rattlesnakes,
especially near the old quarry. At the summit of Mt.
Tremper, you will find
Willow Trail, which is
blazed in blue. This trail is 4.20 miles long. Willow
Trail routes through Hoyt Hollow with forests that
are quite attractive.
