Other Business: Mike Burns NY Logger Training New York Logger Training (NYLT) is a cooperative effort of timber harvesters; forest industry, government, educators, and foresters working together to deliver resources that will allow loggers to learn environmentally sound practices and improved skills, enabling a safer means to greater productivity, increased profitability, and a better quality of life. NYLT was incorporated in 1994 as a non-profit organization, allowing it to function with a clear mission and focus, and making the program responsible for its own financial viability. Public training grants have allowed us to subsidize the costs of several courses, and registration fees are designed to cover direct workshop expenses. Contributions from Supporters and Sponsors have allowed the program to continue for nearly 10 years. A volunteer Board of Directors oversees the activities of NYLT. The Board has a diverse make-up, with timber harvesters having the most representation of any group. Regional Chairs are also represented on the Board, thereby assuring input from all parts of the state. The Board of Directors meets several times a year to decide on program direction and design. Mike informed the group of the upcoming education through NY Logger Training (www.nyloggertraining.org) if there are any ideas that the group would like to collaborate with, contact Mike (518)463-1297. Forests of NY Placemat Wayne is working with the Newton Falls Paper Mill in an attempt to get the paper donated for this project.
