Clermont was the Hudson River seat of the politically and socially prominent Livingston family of New York for more than 230 years. Seven successive generations of the family left their imprint on the architecture, room interiors, and landscape at Clermont. Today the 485 acre historic site appears much as it did in the early twentieth century, when the estate was the home of the last two generations to occupy the property: Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Livingston and their daughters, Honoria and Janet.

The visitors center and historic house are open between mid April and Labor Day on Wednesdays thru Saturdays 10-5 and Sundays noon-5. From Labor Day thru the end of October the hours are Tuesday thru Sunday 11am to 5pm, November thru March on weekends from 11am to 4pm. Visitors are invited to take advantage of the large parklike grounds for walking and hiking.

Hours of Operation
Grounds open daily 8:30am till dusk. House open April thru October on Tuesdays thru Sundays, 11am to 5pm and November thru March on weekends only from 11am till 4pm.

The Mountain Top Arboretum is a not for profit organization that features a living collection of both exotic and native trees and shrubs. Approximately 6 acres of botanically identified plantings of flowering trees, evergreens, and shrubs in a beautiful natural surrounding framed by the Catskill Mountains. Visitors welcome at any time of the year but we can only provide guided tours between June and September. The arboretum also serves as a research center for plant hardiness and as a setting for educational programs on a wide variety of horticultural topics.

A National Historic Landmark, this 250 acre hilltop estate with Moorish style villa of Frederic Edwin Church, internationally famous Hudson River School artist. Main residence designed by Church and Calvert Vaux in eclectic combination of Oriental and Moorish decorative elements on basic Italianate villa form. The house was built in two stages from 1870-72 and then from 1888-89. The house contains an elaborate interior with original furnishings. Grounds open all year offering hiking trails, cross country skiing and magnificent views of the Hudson River.

Hours of Operation
Guided tours: April-October (Tue-Sun) 10am-5pm, Nov (Tue-Sun) 10am-4pm, Jan-Mar (weekends) 10am-4pm.
