Located on the headwaters of the Poestenkill Creek, Dyken Pond offers fishing, boating and more than five miles of trails for hiking, cross-country skiing and showshoeing. Guided tours for groups of six or more, call in advance. Call for schedule of hikes and nature series for families. Grounds open from dawn to dusk. Visitor center with exhibits and gift shop.

Grafton Lakes State Park, on the forested mountain ridge between the Taconic and Hudson Valleys, includes five ponds. Long Pond has a large, sandy beach, which is a popular summer attraction. Fishermen can go after rainbow and brown trout in Long Pond; brook trout in Shaver Pond; pickerel and perch in Mall Pond; and bass and walleye in Martin-Durham Reservoir. All ponds have launch facilities for canoes, sailboats and rowboats. Visitors also picnic, walk the nature trails, and hike, bike or ride horses along the 10 miles of park trails. In winter, the trails are groomed for cross-country skiers and snowmobilers, and visitors may also snowshoe or ice skate.

Situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil bearing formations in the world. Even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park has an Olympic sized pool, basketball and volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. Interpretative programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail. There are over twelve additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking and snowmobiling.

To get to the falls, park at the public parking area on 23A, which is 3.5 miles west of the intersection of 23A and 32A in Palenville, and about the same distance from Tannersville. Walk downhill to the hairpin turn, where you will find the trail signs on the left side, from there follow the yellow trail markers. you will get to Bastion Falls and might think this is Katterskill Falls but you have just begun your hike. Just above Bastion Falls you can either follow the trail which is a bit less interesting or follow the creek. They are close and both lead to the falls. You will enjoy this hike and the falls are a spectacular sight.
